Frequently Asked Questions

Sharing a list
How do I share a list with someone?
Open the list, tap the members icon at the top, then Share. Moonto creates an invitation link and hands it to your phone's share sheet, so you can send it however you like — message, chat or email. You'll need a registered Moonto account to share, not just the guest account the app starts you with.
What does the person I invite have to do?
They open the link on their phone, sign in with a Moonto account of their own, and tap Accept invitation. Nothing is shared until they accept — sending the link on its own doesn't add anyone to your list. If they don't have Moonto yet, the link sends them to the App Store or Google Play first.
Can I send the same invitation link to several people?
No — each link works exactly once. As soon as someone accepts it, it's used up, and anyone else who taps it is told the link is invalid or expired. Share the list again from the members screen to get a fresh link for each person you want to add.
How do I leave a list, or remove someone from one?
Open the list's settings and use the delete button. If the list belongs to someone else, this removes you from it and leaves it untouched for everyone else. If you own the list, the same button deletes it for every single person who shares it — so take a moment before you tap it. This version of the app can't remove another person from a list: ask them to leave it themselves.
When something doesn't sync
I added an item and the other person can't see it.
Check three things, in this order. Are you both actually in the same list? It's easy to add to a list of your own instead of the shared one. Has the other person accepted the invitation yet? Until they do, they're not a member. And do both phones have a working connection? Shared lists update live, so once both devices are online the item shows up within seconds. If it still doesn't, close the app completely and open it again.
An item disappeared from my list.
Almost always it was checked off — by you, or by someone you share the list with. Checked items leave the list on purpose, so that what's still to buy stays obvious; you'll find them again in the list's history. An item you set to repeat also disappears once it's checked, and comes back by itself on its next date.
Does Moonto work without a connection?
Yes, on your own phone. You can open your lists and add or check off items with no signal at all; the changes are kept on the device and sent as soon as it's back online. Other people see them at that point, not before. One thing worth knowing: if you uninstall Moonto or clear its data while changes are still waiting to be sent, those changes are lost.
Your account
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Settings and choose Delete your account. You'll be asked to sign in once more to prove it's really you, and then to confirm a second time. Deletion happens straight away and can't be undone — there's no grace period and no way back. If you've only ever used Moonto as a guest, without registering an email address, the app doesn't offer this option: email us and we'll delete the account for you.
What happens to lists I share with other people?
Sort this out before you delete anything. Lists that belong to you may disappear for everyone who shares them, not only for you; lists owned by other people simply lose you as a member and carry on. So if a household depends on a list you created, make sure someone else has what they need from it first — or write to us before you delete your account and we'll help you avoid losing anything the others rely on.
Checkpad
How do I set up a Checkpad?
Open the Checkpad screen in the app and add a new device. Press and hold the button on the right-hand side of the pad until its indicator blinks blue, then tap Connect — the app finds the pad over Bluetooth, so allow Bluetooth access when your phone asks. The pad then scans for Wi-Fi networks and shows you what it can see: pick yours and enter the password. Once it's online, choose what each button adds under Buttons mapping in the pad's settings.
I press a button and nothing arrives in my list.
Open the Checkpad screen and look at Last contact. If that date is old, the pad isn't reaching the internet — usually because the Wi-Fi network or its password changed. Hold the side button until it blinks blue again and run the setup a second time to give it the new details. If Last contact is recent, then the pad is fine and it's the configuration to check: which list the pad points at, and what that particular button is mapped to.
How do I check the Checkpad's battery?
The pad reports its battery level every time it talks to Moonto, and the app shows it as a percentage on the Checkpad screen. Below 20% the pad switches itself into Economic mode to stretch what's left. Moonto won't warn you when the battery runs low, so it's worth a glance at that percentage now and then.
Free and Premium
What's free, and what does Premium add?
Everything you organize is free: unlimited lists of every kind, spaces, sharing with as many people as you like, search and export. The free plan also includes a weekly allowance of Moonto's AI — 15 text requests and 3 voice or photo requests a week — and every new account starts with a 7-day trial of everything. Premium adds only the AI quota: voice and photo without the weekly cap, and text with no daily limit (fair use applies). It costs €7.99 a month or €74.99 a year, billed through the App Store or Google Play, and the current price is always shown in the app before you confirm anything. The integrations — Shortcuts, the API and MCP — are free too.
I had Premium and stopped. What happens to my lists?
Nothing is lost or hidden. Premium never limited your lists, so every list, row and shared space stays exactly as it was. Only the AI changes: when a subscription ends you go back to the free weekly allowance, and you can subscribe again whenever you like.
